A Bit About Me
Hello! My name is Brittney Nunes and I am the artist behind Ladybubs Studio (originally called LadyBubs Custom Art). I graduated from Laguna College of Art & Design in 2016 with my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Animation, and since then I have worked professionally as an animator, artist, and art teacher for multiple companies including the Disneyland Resorts, Perceptual FX, Essence Cartoon, the Muckenthaler Cultural Center, Carnegie Arts Center, Modesto Christian School, Modesto Academy of Music & Design, The Chartreuse Muse Gallery, and more! Art isn't just a profession for me; it's my lifelong passion, and I find immense joy in using it as a means to connect with others, especially in the area where I grew up!
My Time As A Disney Cast Member
When I first moved to Southern California with my family, it was a HUGE dream of mine to work at Disneyland. I didn't even care WHERE I worked in Disneyland, I just wanted a job there more than anything! At the time, Disney had a weird rule where you could only submit an application ONCE in SIX MONTHS. I didn't think it would be that hard to get a job at Disney...but for me it was. I was so disappointed that I didn't get a job or even an interview, but exactly 6 months later, I applied again. Another no. It took me about a year and a half to FINALLY get an interview. I ended up as part of the Entertainment Costuming department, where basically you're in charge of all the characters and all the parades and it was AMAZING! One of the highlights of my time as an Entertainment Costuming Cast Member was when I went to the Starbucks back stage and ALL the princesses from Fantasy Land were in there getting Starbies on their break too!
After about 8 months in that department, an art position became available working back stage for the Disneyland Park. I had an interview and although things look like they were lining up, I was unable to transfer departments because of a Union conflict. Crushed, I was told that the only way I'd work as an artist for Disney was to quit my job in Entertainment Costuming, wait 6 months (because you ALSO had to wait 6 months after you quit before applying again), and then hope and pray that position or any art position was available. I've applied countless times since then.
Luckily, I had other connections to fulfill my dreams by working as a Disney artist. My aunt and Uncle worked for Disney as artists who worked on the projection shows and art for the Disney Parks all around the world! My Uncle would hire me through his company to work on assets and small segments for their shows. I got to get that work experience and see my dream become a reality with the comfort of being guided by family. I'll always be thankful for those experiences.
My work around the Disneyland Parks includes:
-
Elena of Avalor Skylar posing and animation
-
Oogie Boogie Bash Villains Trail (Hyenas)
-
Halloween Party projection show assets
-
Alice in Wonderland butterflies (El Capitan Theatre)
-
Alice in Wonderland Mad Tea Party flamingos
-
Remember Firework show (Tiki Room segment / Haunted Mansion crows)
-
